| Description/Historical Information: |
Footballer, assumed to be one of 2/6th Notts/Derby regiment, in his strip, outside the
front door of house in Luton. There are a number of photos in the archive of this door! His shorts seem to be
rolled up and he is not wearing football boots. He was possibly holding a stick or maybe a furled flag.
During 1915 a number of sporting events took place whilst the regiment were based at Luton, including football
matches. For example, the 2nd/6th played in a competition in late April and were runners up (to the 2nd/8th) in the
final round of a competition watched by well over 2,000 people, including numerous officers ("Mansfield
Reporter", 30 April 1915). |
