The Simpson Cup. Ilkeston [winners] 1914. Matlock [winners] 1911. T. Elton Supt.
Matlock District also won this cup in 1912:
... "Apropos of the Pearl, we are informed that the local district, comprising Matlock, Belper and Bakewell,
hold the Simpson Challenge Cup for sustained increase during the past quarter, this against 19 other districts. ...
Matlock District comprises Belper and Bakewell, and the district superintendent is Mr. T. Elton, with Mr. Jo Ward
and Mr. S. Bacon sub-superintendents ("Belper News", 2 February 1912. National Insurance and
the Pearl Life Assurance Company).
Thomas Elton was later the district manager in Ilkeston. |
