This photograph is of a Starkholmes School Picnic, dating from around 1920/1. Amongst the Sunday School pupils is Arthur Whittaker, Jean
Baloo's father; his siblings, Mary and John, are also in the photograph. Another brother, Alec, is supposed to be one of the children
but doesn't seem to be there.
There were two completely separate Sunday Schools at the time. One was held in Starkholmes and one at Matlock Town School, although
they were propably both run by St Giles Church. The picnic probably took place in Harpers Field which was behind the old Starkholmes
School[1].
